Field testing of volatile substances in olive groves
Selected volatile substances are tested in 3 experimental olive groves, one each in the hinterland, on the coast and on the island Brač, in such a way that a dispenser with a combination of volatile substances that proved to be the most attractive to the olive moth last year was placed in each delta trap. Three combinations of selected volatile substances are tested in 4 repetitions, as stipulated in the project Contract. Once a week, the results of the olive moth catch are read, traps and dispensers are replaced with new ones and rotated in the olive grove (Photo 1 – 4).
In the other three selected olive groves, yellow sticky traps were placed with three combinations of volatile substances that proved to be the most attractive to the olive fly last year (Photo 5-7). The traps were placed in 4 repetitions, as stipulated in the project Contract. Once a week, the catch results are read, the traps and the dispenser with volatile substances are replaced with new ones, and the traps are rotated.
